Hello There!

Hi,
My name is Susanna and welcome to my blog!
I decided to create "Healthified Lifestyle" to expand on my continued weight loss journey that I've shared on Instagram and go more in depth than just a picture with a brief description. I plan to share more in depth posts of my weight loss but for now, I leave you with a couple questions you may have about me:

A little about me:

I'm 23 years old in have lived my entire life in California. Grew up in a small town then moved to Los Angeles for college and I'm now back in my hometown working as a paralegal. A few of my favorite things include reading, drinking coffee/tea, baking, cooking and endlessly looking at my favorite blogs for recipes. For so long I struggled with being truly happy about myself instead of putting my fake cheer smile and moving on with life. My unhealthy eating habits and emotional eating led me to be overweight (putting it kindly) for the majority of my life. I never knew what it meant to be healthy (emotionally and physically) but on September 2013  I decided, no, I was determined to make a change.

Brief Overview on Weight Loss

It's been over a year and a half since I took that first step and I have ever looked back. I have lost about 45 lbs since I first weighed myself (February 2014) and have gone through so many food transitions since then, from trying to eliminate Hot Cheetos Puffs (I was seriously addicted to these) from my diet to discovering MyFitnessPal, to trying to eat ONLY clean foods, to restricting/binge eating and where I am now. My exercise journey, like my eating, has been just as diverse. As you can tell from the brief descriptions I just gave you, there is no one way approach to weight loss  and finding the right balance. . For someone that has been overweight for so long, It's heard not letting the number on the scale define me BUT Despite my difficulties one of the things that has kept me going is knowing that I'm at least one step closer to my goals. NEVER LOOK BACK AND KEEP GOING have been my two biggest mantras on this journey. Hopefully by sharing my both the good and bad days of my journey, someone can relate and not feel defeated

What now?

Now......that's a big open question. The mental struggle that comes along with losing weight has been harder than losing the weight itself. Everyone preaches "balance" on social media but yet finding that "balance" is harder than I ever thought possible. Whether it's with eating or exercising, I feel like I have yet to find that for myself. For so long I've been focused on  the scale reaching  a certain number and the "ideal weight" which has led me to an unhealthy mentality about food and exercise, Now I'm focusing on learning how to appreciate myself despite  the number on the scale. A struggle that is easier said than done.

Hope this brief overview helps you with knowing me a little. Will definitely being going more in depth in other posts but if you want to get to know more about me go ahead and check out my Instagram

Would love to hear from you with any feedback!

Dear Diary-2

I’ve come to the realization that I will never really be consistent with the whole “blog” thing and that’s ok with me. I kind of treat this like my personal diary even though I do have an actual “diary” that I write in every day. More so like a gratitude journal. As much as I want to write everything that I am feeling and thinking, these thoughts are very fragmented and random that it just does not work for me. Half the time I’m day dreaming about far off places that I want to travel, things I want to eat or replay scenarios that happened. I mean the internal monologues that I have are kind of ridiculous but kind of keep me sane since I tend to be a lone wolf and genuinely don’t know anybody that would tolerate all my thoughts, worries and scenarios. Lately I’ve been in this really weird funk of a mood and it all stems from this comparison trap that I fall into. You would think that at 26 years old I would be wise and experienced enough to know that nothing good comes fr...

Let's talk about my first time at the "House"

So I was cleaning out my drive and lo and behold I find this little gem. I wrote this little gem back in college and it's pretty cool seeing how much of an impact my Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles experience mad on me. I want to say that this was what sparked my love for pairing different flavors together. Enjoy!! Leaving the fog dense city of Westwood a band of brothers ensued on a journey to discover the marriage of chicken and waffles that has so many Los Angeles residents relishing in taste bud heaven. Like many on this trip, this would be my first time visiting The House of Chicken and Waffles.Jittering with excitement I sputtered a stream of questions to a veteran of this establishment: How exactly do I order? Is there anything else on the menu? Do I eat the chicken and waffles together in one bite or separately? I continued like a broken record player until we arrived at our destination, my car mates joyfully springing from their seats relishing the opportunity to put a...

Weight Loss: A Brief History

March 2014 November 2013. You know how when someone changes their life drastically you often wonder what their "Aahhhaaa"  moment must have been? Well mine came one day in August 2013 while I had just finished eating an entire bag of Hot Cheeto puffs. It was hot, humid  and I remember wearing an old cheer tank top. I looked down and felt utterly gross as I saw my belly fat and flabby arms beading with sweat. I don't know why  but a feeling of self loathing rushed upon me, not because of how I looked but  for allowing myself to become  the person that had just finished eating an entire bag of Hot Cheetos  without being hungry in the first place. Emotional eating had become the norm. June 2014 August 2014   SMALL. I started very small. My goal was to go an entire week without eating hot cheetos (yeah those suckers had me hooked like no other). Needless to say I relapsed. The addiction was too strong. But I was DETERMINED to prove to m...
