Let's talk about my first time at the "House"

So I was cleaning out my drive and lo and behold I find this little gem. I wrote this little gem back in college and it's pretty cool seeing how much of an impact my Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles experience mad on me. I want to say that this was what sparked my love for pairing different flavors together. Enjoy!! Leaving the fog dense city of Westwood a band of brothers ensued on a journey to discover the marriage of chicken and waffles that has so many Los Angeles residents relishing in taste bud heaven. Like many on this trip, this would be my first time visiting The House of Chicken and Waffles.Jittering with excitement I sputtered a stream of questions to a veteran of this establishment: How exactly do I order? Is there anything else on the menu? Do I eat the chicken and waffles together in one bite or separately? I continued like a broken record player until we arrived at our destination, my car mates joyfully springing from their seats relishing the opportunity to put a...

Squash & Babies

So I'm waiting for my kabocha to finish roasting and just had the sudden urge to spew my thoughts on this little blog of mine. Also it's FINALLY SQUASH SEASON!!!! I've been gobbling up kabocha and delicata squash like nobody's business. That's probably why I'm starting to resemble an oompa loompa with my orange pigmented hands. Whateves. Anything for that delicious goodness. Can't stop. Won't stop. Don't really think this is helping my non-existent dating life or future prospect for the matter but food > boys. If you don't know what Kabocha or delicata squash are you can either 1. google it or  (better option) 2. haul ass to Trader Joe's because they have any and all types of squash you can dream of. I swear they know how to capture the heart of this girl. That and the cute cashier whose line I always try to get in. I promise I'm not some weird stalker. GUYS!!!!I don't know what the french toast is in the air but EVERYONE I know ...

February 22, 2016

February 22, 2016.  I will never forget that date. The day my dad got arrested and it wasn't even during the day. It was literally minutes into the beginning of the "day." Minutes after 12:00 a.m in the middle of the night. At least according to the police report.   I think I should have trusted my gut that entire day when I just assumed he was sleeping off his drunkenness at one of his "friends" house. I should have trusted my gut when I kept calling and my calls went straight to voicemail when that rarely ever happens. I should have trusted my gut when it was past 5 pm on February 22nd and we still had not heard back from him. I should have trusted my gut when we started reaching out to family members to see if they had heard from him. I should have trusted my gut…….but I waited. Waited until I was almost going to bed. I waited, trying to push down the all too familiar feeling I had experienced before. Ignoring  that gut tugging feeling I had been exp...

Let's talk about Quarter Life Crisis?!?!?!

So I was watching Flipping Out  on Bravo and this was the second episode of the new season and I guess the theme was all about having kids and raising kids. Jeff and gage are going through this huge transition of finally starting a family through IVF. During the episode they are in the clinic waiting for the egg to be "planted" inside the surrogate mother and both Gage and Jeff are super nervous about the outcome. Is it going to take? Will it work? are they going to have a girl soon? basically fear is setting in that this might not work and they will have to start the process over again and the emotional roller coaster that comes along with it.  And I for some reason got super emotional. Like I don't know if I'm going through a quarter life crisis or what but I'm becoming more and more fearful of ending up alone for the rest of my life. Before people start saying their spewing out their  " OMG don't worry you'll find somebody:" routine, let...

Let's talk about Friend's advice on how to talk to "my gym hottie"

Since I’m basically like bambi barely learning how to walk I’ve been getting a lot of advice on how I should approach “my gym hottie” and how to find out if he is interested. Someone points out the obvious “just be super flirty with him” to which I blankly stare because I have no clue what being “flirty means.” Upon further inquiry my friend tells me to just get close to him and “you know” touch him. She then demonstrates this flirtatious act. Yeah….. I don’t know how that would work out. Do I just go up and pet this person? How do you get close to someone at the gym without making it awkward by touching them? This technique does not seem it will work out too well considering that I tense up and become a spastic mess in front of him. I’m totally nailing the flirting thing if he finds my rambles or sarcastic comments amusing but I have no clue if he does so the verdict is still out. I’m also told “Why don’t you just ask him out?” Considering that I am a very blunt and straightfo...

Let's talk about American Airlines

Holy Guacamole! What a way to beginning my trip to San Francisco this weekend. I'm such a neurotic Type A person that I doubled checked, tripled checked, and even quadrupled checked that I had done everything possible to ensure that my flight to SF would go as smooth as creamy almond butter. Yes, I used almond butter instead of your typical "smooth as peanut butter" because everyone knows that almond butter > peanut butter. Back to the story. Well apparently I should just give up on planning because nothing went accordingly. Where to begin....... Well after sitting in traffic and jamming out to all the popular 90s boy bands and female pop singers known to man kind, I finally made it to  LAX with an hour and a half to get through TSA. I figured I was "winning" because I had followed American Airline's protocol of arriving one hour prior to boarding a domestic flight. Well someone should have been standing outside TSA ringing an alarm and shouting cod...
