I’m back!
Those few that follow me and read my blog (THANK YOU!) have
noticed that I have not posted anything on here for the last two months. There were
a lot of changes that happened in both in my personal and fitness life that
made me fall into a bit of “funk”. I know two months is a long time to be in a “funk”
but in all honesty I really lost a lot of my motivation and was only really
going through the motions of everyday living.
I feel a lot better now so I thought I post a little life
update.
First the good:
I did my first 5K mud run. Challenging and fun at the same time. The experience was surreal and I've actually signed up to do another one in December.
My brother graduated from high school! WOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
Can’t believe he is no longer my “baby brother” anymore.
Now the not so great:
The first change that lead drove me into my “funk” was my
co-worker leaving on maternity leave. I was thrilled to hear that she was
pregnant and growing her family but I did not realize how much her absence was going
to affect me. One thing that people don’t tell you is that it is extremely
difficult finding people who you truly LOVE to work with. Trust me when I say that
out of all the people e that I h have worked with she has been the one that I While
I don’t dislike working with my other co-workers, my pregnant co-worker was
kind of like my work soulmate. We have been working together for more than a
year, share a lot of similar interests and have come to form a friendship
outside of work. So once she left on maternity I was left with a void in the
office. Learning to adapt to the change of atmosphere has definitely been
challenging because no longer do I have the person that I can share inside
jokes with or complain about frustrating/annoying clients. On other great news,
she just had her baby boy and he is so cute. Definitely counting down the days
until she comes back (in exactly two months)!!!!
The second change was my trainer leaving to take an
internship as an athletic trainer at Pepperdine. I’ve talked briefly about him
in a previous post but just for reference, he was the reason why I started
falling in love with powerlifting. We had more of a friendship than a
trainer/trainee relationship and I felt that for the first time someone REALLY
understood my personality and fitness goals. He pushed me when I had high self-doubts
and made me an overall better powerlifter. I was really sad to see him go
because I had progressed so much with him and learned a lot of valuable
information. I mean he got me to back squat 195lbs which I never thought would
ever happen.

So I was assigned another trainer and let’s just say that is
not going so well. Whereas before I looked forward to my PT sessions, I have
now found dreading and even canceling sessions that I had scheduled. My goals
and his style of training are just so polar opposite that it’s frustrating when
I’m voicing my concerns yet he seems to not listen. At this point I’m just
hoping to get through my remaining sessions (17 but who is counting) and then
just train by myself.
Well there you have it. A brief recap. Currently using the
5/3/1 training method, tracking macros and trying to reach my goal but I’ll go
into detail for the next post. I promise that I will be posting that sometime
soon.
