Squash & Babies

So I'm waiting for my kabocha to finish roasting and just had the sudden urge to spew my thoughts on this little blog of mine. Also it's FINALLY SQUASH SEASON!!!! I've been gobbling up kabocha and delicata squash like nobody's business. That's probably why I'm starting to resemble an oompa loompa with my orange pigmented hands. Whateves. Anything for that delicious goodness. Can't stop. Won't stop. Don't really think this is helping my non-existent dating life or future prospect for the matter but food > boys. If you don't know what Kabocha or delicata squash are you can either 1. google it or  (better option) 2. haul ass to Trader Joe's because they have any and all types of squash you can dream of. I swear they know how to capture the heart of this girl. That and the cute cashier whose line I always try to get in. I promise I'm not some weird stalker.

GUYS!!!!I don't know what the french toast is in the air but EVERYONE I know is pregnant. And by everyone, I mean my three co-workers. scratch that. my two co-workers but it was three before we had to let one go. I mean what in the world is going on?!?!?!?

Clearly my mom knows me to well because when I told her the news, her immediate reaction was "Susanna. You have to be nice. There highly sensitive right now and you can't be acting like you normally would."  I mean......way to be subtle mother. She makes it seem like I'm Regina George and go around terrorizing people. I AM A NICE PERSON....for the most part. and when she means "nice" she means don't be blunt, sarcastic and opinionated. What am I suppose to do? Hibernate while they are pregnant? My mom just doesn't understand my personality sometimes (or 99% of the time) so it's hard to comprehend that others might actually find me quite pleasing to be around. Either that or they are infinitely better at pretending than she is.

The one good thing about having friends that are pregnant is that I am able to cook and buy all the things that I would not eat and have them taste test. I mean pregnant people are all up for any type of food so long as it does not include any type of green "thing" or "rabbit food" as my friends like to call it.

Currently listening to "Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off" and it's so ironic because that's farther from my current situations. Grandma mode is in full swing with my cup of sleepy time tea, baggy sweater and sweats. This could be a reason why I'm not meeting a cute boy to date: I prefer tea, books and kabocha squash over  actual human interaction. Introverts for the win! Any who. My kabocha is done so I'm going to go gobble that up now.

Dear Diary-2

I’ve come to the realization that I will never really be consistent with the whole “blog” thing and that’s ok with me. I kind of treat this like my personal diary even though I do have an actual “diary” that I write in every day. More so like a gratitude journal. As much as I want to write everything that I am feeling and thinking, these thoughts are very fragmented and random that it just does not work for me. Half the time I’m day dreaming about far off places that I want to travel, things I want to eat or replay scenarios that happened. I mean the internal monologues that I have are kind of ridiculous but kind of keep me sane since I tend to be a lone wolf and genuinely don’t know anybody that would tolerate all my thoughts, worries and scenarios. Lately I’ve been in this really weird funk of a mood and it all stems from this comparison trap that I fall into. You would think that at 26 years old I would be wise and experienced enough to know that nothing good comes fr...

Let's talk about my first time at the "House"

So I was cleaning out my drive and lo and behold I find this little gem. I wrote this little gem back in college and it's pretty cool seeing how much of an impact my Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles experience mad on me. I want to say that this was what sparked my love for pairing different flavors together. Enjoy!! Leaving the fog dense city of Westwood a band of brothers ensued on a journey to discover the marriage of chicken and waffles that has so many Los Angeles residents relishing in taste bud heaven. Like many on this trip, this would be my first time visiting The House of Chicken and Waffles.Jittering with excitement I sputtered a stream of questions to a veteran of this establishment: How exactly do I order? Is there anything else on the menu? Do I eat the chicken and waffles together in one bite or separately? I continued like a broken record player until we arrived at our destination, my car mates joyfully springing from their seats relishing the opportunity to put a...

Weight Loss: A Brief History

March 2014 November 2013. You know how when someone changes their life drastically you often wonder what their "Aahhhaaa"  moment must have been? Well mine came one day in August 2013 while I had just finished eating an entire bag of Hot Cheeto puffs. It was hot, humid  and I remember wearing an old cheer tank top. I looked down and felt utterly gross as I saw my belly fat and flabby arms beading with sweat. I don't know why  but a feeling of self loathing rushed upon me, not because of how I looked but  for allowing myself to become  the person that had just finished eating an entire bag of Hot Cheetos  without being hungry in the first place. Emotional eating had become the norm. June 2014 August 2014   SMALL. I started very small. My goal was to go an entire week without eating hot cheetos (yeah those suckers had me hooked like no other). Needless to say I relapsed. The addiction was too strong. But I was DETERMINED to prove to m...
